Teacher Training & Certification

The Story Weaving Teacher Training and Certification program prepares K-8 teachers to bring reading, writing, and storytelling to life in their own classrooms, while weaving in social-emotional learning at every step. Through experiential learning, teachers develop the skills to lead engaging literacy activities that double as SEL practice — building students’ vocabulary, narrative skills, and speaking and listening abilities alongside their empathy, self-expression, and sense of belonging. This training integrates creative-writing pedagogy with trauma-informed principles, ethical facilitation, and an understanding of how to adapt the practice across developmental stages, from kindergarten through eighth grade. Graduates leave with both practical classroom tools and a grounded understanding of how story supports literacy growth and student wellbeing together. Certification recognizes a teacher’s commitment to making core English Language Arts and SEL instruction genuinely engaging.
